    People of all nations love holidays. Holidays are days people can spend time together, commemorate notable occasions, and celebrate joyous events. Americans are unique from the rest of the world in several ways with regards to holidays. In most nations, holidays often commemorate the death of national heroes. In the United States we commemorate birth. In many nations, holidays are locally derived. In the United States, many of our holidays are derived internationally. Finally, while we recognize many holidays, National holidays (days off from work) are fewer than many other countries.
